Please see the photos for details of this lovely figure. She is crouching, hugging her sweet little doggy, who is clearly ecstatic with joy at being reunited with his mistress! At her feet, there is a basket full of vegetables that she has brought back from her time in the country. The evacuation of civilians was codenamed Operation Pied Piper. It began at the beginning of the Second World War in 1939 when millions of people were officially relocated.
To honour the 50th anniversary, Royal Doulton created a limited edition series for the millions of brave children who endured this turbulent time in British history. I also have the other 2 figures from this series of the little boy and girl as evacuees, on offer as a pair.
The Boy Evacuee' HN 3202, number 1192 of 9500. The Girl Evacuee' HN 3203, number 9060 of 9500. And'Welcome Home' HN 3299 of the little boy, with his bag over his shoulder, smiling down on his ginger cat in his arms. He is 3,141 of 9.500.And a similar figure from the Prestige series, again entitled'Welcome Home' HN 4697. This is of a little boy and girl, proudly waving their Union Jack flags. Also a limited edition, this is early in the run, numbered at 124 of 1,500. All the figures are in good condition and ready for display.
