SOUL JOURNEYS MAASAI COLLECTION - "AKINA: DEVOTED FAMILY" - LIMITED EDITION 0288/1500 An impressive and highly detailed Soul Journeys Maasai Collection sculpture entitled "Akina - Devoted Family", dating from 2004. This substantial 43 cm sculpture was produced as a Worldwide Limited Edition of only 1,500 examples, with this particular piece individually numbered: 0288 / 1500 The sculpture depicts an intimate Maasai family group of two adults and a child. The parents lean gently towards one another while the child looks upwards between them, creating an expressive composition centred around family, affection and togetherness. Particularly impressive is the level of sculptural detail throughout the piece.

The traditional clothing, layered beadwork and jewellery, staffs, facial features, hands, feet and textured ground have all been carefully modelled, while the bronze-effect finish accentuates the depth and texture of the sculpture. The complete group stands on a substantial dark display plinth, giving the piece considerable presence when displayed.
